Before Antietam

Age 21, he enlisted on 5 September 1861 in Rushville, NY, and mustered as Sergeant, Company G, 8th New York Cavalry on 17 October.

On the Campaign

He was admitted to the US Army General Hospital #2 in Frederick, MD on 27 October 1862 and died there of typhoid fever on 1 November.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
