Before the Antietam Campaign:
From Bliven Mills, he enlisted in Company A, 7th Wisconsin Infantry on 24 August 1861.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He died of wounds on 7 October 1862 at Middletown, MD. He was buried in the new National Cemetery during or before 1867.
