Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was age 26 when he enlisted at Rochester, and mustered in as Private, Company B, 108th New York Infantry on 14 August 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He died of wounds on 11 January 1863 in Frederick, MD.
