Wounded and captured at Sharpsburg on 9/17/1862.

The remainder of the War:
Originally buried " in Rev. J. J. Adams town lot, back of the M. E. Graveyard [possibly St. Paul's]" in Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.

The Bowie List has him as "Shettles". Burial information from Pruett1. Life and service details from roster data compiled by Michael R. Brasher. Probably KIA, but Federal records show his name on a parole of prisoners of war, dated 9/27/1862.
