Before Sharpsburg

He mustered as Private, Company G, 27th Georgia Infantry on 15 June 1861. He was promoted to Sergeant, then commissioned First Lieutenant, dates not given.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He appears on a parole of POWs, Office of the Provost Marshall General, Army of the Potomac dated 27 September 1862: admitted to Antietam General Hospital, Smoketown, with wounds of the breast, leg, arms and back. He died there on 13 October 1862 and was probably buried originally near the hospital and reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
