On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was listed as paroled at Keedysville, Maryland, September 27, 1862. He died of wounds on 27 October. Originally buried "on west side of and in the cemetery at Frederick." Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
