In the Antietam Campaign:
Probably mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The remainder of the War:
Died at "Lavinia Grove's Farm". Originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker's] barn. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
