Before Sharpsburg

He mustered as Private, Company C, 38th Georgia Infantry on 1 October 1861. He was promoted to Corporal in 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally mounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September and died the same day.

The rest of the War

Federal records state he died at White House Hospital near Sharpsburg & also at Line's Farm Hospital. Probably buried originally on the battlefield at Sharpsburg and reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
