He was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He He appears on a parole of POWs, office of the Provost Marshall General, Army of the Potomac 09-30-1862. Died at S.H. Grove's Farm, Md. Probably buried originally on the battlefield at Sharpsburg and reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
