Before the Antietam Campaign: He enlisted as Private, Company A, 8th Georgia Infantry in July 1862. In the Antietam Campaign: He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September. The remainder of the War: He died of wounds in September 1862. Originally buried on the field at Sharpsburg near "Mrs. Lucker's" [Locker] barn. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
