In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The remainder of the War:
He appears on a parole list dated 9/27/1862. He died at the Line Farm Hospital. Originally buried "buried west of George Line's house in his new ground along side of an old white oak tree near his pond" on the battlefield at Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
