A farmer in Ashley County before the War, he enlisted in Company B, 3rd Arkansas Infantry, at Berlin, Arkansas, June 9, 1861; promoted First Sergeant.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September.

The rest of the War

Originally buried "in Samuel Beeler's barn field along the fence, running east from the barn" near the battlefield at Sharpsburg. Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
