He enlisted as Private on 10 July 1861 in the Montgomery Sharpshooters, Company E, 61st Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot, probably at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, and captured.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD and died there of wounds on 6 October 1862.
