Before the Antietam Campaign: He enlisted in Company A at age 18 on 21 July 1861, mustering as Private in August. In the Antietam Campaign: He was listed as a deserter on 17 September 1862. The remainder of the War: He went to England and worked as a clerk in a shipyard at Birkenhead. After the War: He only returned occasionally and surreptitiously to the States, and probably died in England.
