Basic information from Commonwealth of Massachusetts1. Age 18, a mechanic from Worcester on enlistment in July 1861. Promoted Sergeant Major of the Regiment on 26 February 1863, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in March. Resigned that commission effective 4 September 1863. Later service in the 57th Massachusetts Infantry and the US Army.
