Age 22, a shoemaker from Upton on enlistment in May 1861. He was in Company H. Captured in action at Ball's Buff on 21 October 1861.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863.
