Before the Antietam Campaign:
Abram M. Feltus was awarded an AM degree by the University of Pennsylvania in 1857.

The remainder of the War:
Promoted Lt Col Dec 20, 1862, and was a Lt Col when he was killed at Spottsylvania in May 1864.

"A.M. Feltus is listed in the 24 August 1850 census of Wilkinson County, Mississippi, with wife Eliza and 10 children. This is Abram Morell, Senior. He was then 51 years, born in NY, occupation planter, and owner of property with significant value. One of the children was "Abem. M.", 16 years - our man. His brother Henry James (1829-1899) was also in the Regiment, but returned home to run the family plantation "Deer Park" in 1864 when another brother William also died.
