Basic information from Commonwealth of Massachusetts1. Age 21, a salesman from Worcester when he was commissioned Captain on 5 August 1861. Promoted to Major on 13 November 1862, Lieutenant Colonel 17 April 1863. Was commissioned (but not mustered as) Colonel 4 July 1863. Captured in action 27 November 1863 at Mine Run, VA and released in 1864.
