He's mentioned as being "well" at Antietam in a 1 October 1862 letter from Francis Carpenter of Webster, published in The Webster Times, 4 Oct 1862 (Volume IV #29) - transcribed on Susan's Harnwell's 15th Massachusetts site. Age 42, an operative from Webster on enlistment in July 1862. Discharged for disability 20 January 1863 at Washington, DC.
