Before Sharpsburg

From Fulton County, he was commissioned Captain, Company B, 19th Georgia Infantry on 11 June 1861. He was promoted to Major on 26 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was in command as senior officer present at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 12 January and Colonel on 20 August 1863. He was killed in action at Bentonville, NC on 15 March 1865.
