In 1860 he was a 17 year old farmer on his parents' place in Bath, ME. He enlisted and mustered as Corporal, Company B, 7th Maine Infantry on 21 August 1861. He was reduced to Private, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

His memorial is on Findagrave, which a stone for him in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath. He's buried in the Crawford Burying Ground, in "a back pasture on what was the Oscar Wright farm, North Bath, ME".
