Before Antietam

From Lewiston, age 24, he enlisted 21 August 1861 as Corporal, Company K, 7th Maine Infantry.

On the Campaign

He served as Color Corporal and was severely wounded in the side in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

The rest of the War

He was again wounded, in action at Salem Heights, VA on 4 May 1863. He transferred to the 1st Maine Veteran Infantry 21 August 1864, and was promoted Sergeant (1864). He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant, 20th Maine Infantry on 15 February 1865 (commissioned 22 March), then of Company H, 14th Maine Infantry. He was promoted to First Lieutenant, date not given, and mustered out 28 August 1865.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a farmer in Lewiston, ME.
