Basic information from Commonwealth of Massachusetts1. Age 21, a clerk in Nashua, New Hampshire on enlistment in June 1861. Promoted Sergeant-Major 1 November 1862. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on to date from 11 September 1862, then First Lieutenant 21 December 1862. Wounded in action at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863. Resigned 28 October 1863 for appointment in the Veteran Reserve Corps.
