class="citation">1. Age 33, a clerk in North Bridgewater when he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in June 1861. Promoted Captain 20 August 1862. He was in Company B.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Wounded again at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862, losing an eye.
