Before the Antietam Campaign:
Age 31, a brush maker from North Bridgewater on enlsitment as First Sergeant in June 1861. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 13 May 1862. He was in Company F.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Commissioned 1st Lieutenant 14 December 1862, and Captain 23 July 1863. Killed in action at Spottsylvania, VA on 10 May 1864.
