Before the Antietam Campaign:
Age 38, a carpenter in East Abington on enlistment as Corporal in June 1861. Appointed Sergeant before Antietam. He was in Company G.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Promoted First Sergeant, then commissioned First Lieutenant 26 May 1864, but not mustered at that rank. He was mortally wounded 5 May 1864 at the Wilderness, VA and died of wounds on 17 June.
