Herschel Almeran Sanborn

He was a 22 year old farmer from Woburn when he enlisted in July 1861 in Company G, 13th Massachusetts Infantry. He mustered in as Corporal on 16 July.

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.

He married in Harrisburg, PA in March 1863. He was killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 1 July 1863.

He's mentioned in another Woburn soldier's September 1863 letter home. It's from Andrew Linscott of the 39th Massachusetts Infantry, now at the Massachusetts Historical Society.
