Before the Antietam Campaign: He enlisted on 1 November 1861 in Company K, 97th NY Infantry at age 23. In the Antietam Campaign: He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862. The remainder of the War: Later promoted to Corporal and died on May 12, 1864 of wounds received in action in The Wilderness, VA on May 6, 1864.
