Before Sharpsburg

"This company of volunteers, calling themselves the Three Creeks Rifles, was organized at Three Creeks, Union County, Arkansas, June 20, 1861, by Captain John W. Reedy. The company was composed of men from Union county and neighboring Columbia county, Arkansas. It traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia, where it was assigned to the Third Regiment, Arkansas Volunteers, as Company G, July 1861."

He commanded the Regiment at Sharpsburg as the senior officer present.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Major on 19 January 1863 and was at Gettysburg in July 1863, but was killed in action at Chickamauga, GA on 19 September 1863.
