He was promoted to First Lieutenant at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was at Griffin, GA on furlough to at least February 1863 and resigned due to "physical disability" on 5 March 1863.

After the War

By 1880 and to at least 1900 he was a farmer in Union Parish, LA.
