In 1860 he was a 15 year old farm boy on his parent's place near Griffin, Spalding County, GA. He enlisted there as a Private in Company C, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was about 17 years old when he was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father William C. Davis McWhorter filed a claim for his first-born's final pay on 19 January 1863.
