Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 13 year old on his parent's farm near Fayetteville in Fayette County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 13th Georgia Infantry in July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, and probably died the same day at a US field hospital near the battlefield.
