Age 18, he enlisted on 2 September 1861 at Hamilton for three years and mustered as Private, Company C, 61st New York Infantry on 6 September.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged for disability on 16 December 1862 in Philadelphia, PA.

Service information from State of New York1. His gravesite is on Findagrave; his stone his his age at death as 26 years, which seems unlikely.

He married Emma Townsend (later Hubbard, 1854-1886) in 1877, but died the next year, about 35 years old.
