Before Antietam

Age 18, he enlisted in Ithaca as Private, Company E, 64th New York Infantry on 10 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot to his left arm in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD in October for but died there of wound on 12 (or 15) October 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
