Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was 39 years old when he enlisted as Corporal in Company F, 52nd NY Infantry on 5 Septtember 1861.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Wounded and captured in October 1863 at Bristoe Station, VA, then paroled (date unknown). He died on 2 April 1864 at Annapolis, MD.
