Before the Antietam Campaign: He was 25 years old when he enlisted in May 1861 at Fairfield, NY as a Corporal. He mustered into Company C of the 34th New York Infantry in June 1861. In the Antietam Campaign: He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862. The remainder of the War: He mustered out of the 34th on 30 June 1863 at Albany, NY.
