Before the Antietam Campaign: Enlisted at age 20 on 20 October 1861 in Peekskill, and mustered in as Private, Company I, 59th New York Infantry on 10 December. In the Antietam Campaign: He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862. The remainder of the War: Reported absent, in hospital, at Frederick, MD until dropped from Company roll in June 1863, by order. After the War: In the 1889 directory of the Association of Survivors of the Regiment, his address was listed as Peekskill, NY.
