Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was 18 years old when he enlisted in Rochester, and he mustered in as Private, Company A, 108th New York Infantry on 23 July 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He was accidentally wounded, unknown date, and discharged for disability on 29 May 1865 in Washington, DC.
