Before the Antietam Campaign:
He came to Buffalo, NY from his native Canada at age 11 in 1849. He enlisted in Company C, 108th New York Infantry on August 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He was a farmer in Michigan after about 1868.

After the War:
Died in an accident, killed by a train at Buffalo enroute to a Regimental Reunion in Rochester in August 1889.
