Before the Antietam Campaign:
From Vernon, he enlisted in Company D, 14th Connecticut Infantry in July 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Promoted Corporal 1 July 1864. Wounded in the arm in action at Deer Creek (Boydton Plank Road), VA on 27 October 1864.

After the War:
He began receiving a pension in September 1878 for a wound, right thigh, then a resident of Burnside, Hartford County. The Pension Office was notified of his death in June 1924.
