After graduating from West Point, he was appointed 2nd Lt, 1st US Infantry, 1 July 1827;
Served as Assistant Quartermaster 11 July 1832 to 31 Dec 1835 (his CO was Col. Zachary Taylor);
Promoted to 1st Lt 4 Mar 1833;
Resigned 30 Nov 1836;
Appointed Colonel, 1st Michigan Volunteers, 9 Dec 1847 (service in Mexico);
Honorably mustered out 9 Jul 1848;
Appointed Colonel, 16th Michigan Infantry, 8
Sept 1861;
Resigned 18 May 1863.
He was a signer/witness of a treaty with the Chippewa tribe in 1837, and appears to have been Mayor of Michigan City, IN in 1839.
After the War
He and his wife were prominent in Flint, MI after the Civil War.
