Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was in Company D - enrolled as 2nd Lieutenant on 27 May 1861. Elected 1st Lieutenant May 27, 1861; Captain November 16, 1861. Wounded at Seven Pines, Virginia May 31, 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action in the leg, resulting in amputation, on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The remainder of the War:
Resigned on account of disability September 17, 1863.

After the War:
By at least 1882 he was clerk of the Superior Court of Butts County, GA. He was also a bank cashier and a long-time resident of Jackson, GA.
