In the Antietam Campaign:
He was captured in action on 15 September 1862 at Hagerstown, MD.

The remainder of the War:
He was imprisoned at Ft. Delaware and exchanged 10 November 1862. He died on 1 July 1864 of disease in Gordonsville, VA.
