Captured "in a skirmish with the enemy's cavalry, near the city" of Frederick, MD on 9 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Held at Fort Delaware until exchanged on 10 November 1862. Wounded at the Wilderness, VA on 5 May 1864.
