He was in Company B.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The remainder of the War:
He was wounded again, in action at Bristoe Station, VA on 14 October 1863. Captured at Hatcher's Run, VA on 2 April 1865. Held at Point Lookout, MD until released on 29 June 1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
