He enlisted in Company F on 1 July 1861.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was captured after being "found sick" probably near Buckeystown, MD in September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Paroled on or about 26 September 1862 and returned to duty before 1 May 1863. He died in hospital at Lynchburg, VA on 3 January 1864.
