Before the Antietam Campaign:
A farmer before the War, he enlisted in Company F on 1 September 1861.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Paroled and transferred to Aiken’s Landing, VA on 27 October 1862, where he was exchanged on 10 November. He was killed in action at the Wilderness, VA about 5 May 1864.
