A farmer in Orange County, he enlisted in the Orange Guards (later Company G, 27th North Carolina Infantry) on 18 June 1861 at age 20.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the arm in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He died of disease on 12 January 1863 at Chimborazo Hospital. Richmond, VA.
