Unit history

They were equipped with new Sharps .56 caliber breechloading rifles in April 1861 supplied by Chicago grain merchant Solomon Sturges (1796-1864).

On the Antietam Campaign

The Company was not at Antietam on 17 September, although some reports have at least a few individuals present. The unit had been detailed to the defenses of Washington DC on 7 September 1862.
