This regiment was organized at Camp Curtin [Harrisburg, PA], in the fall of 1861. The men composing it were from various sections of the State, but principally from Philadelphia, and the counties of Indiana, Centre, Luzerne, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, and Wayne.
